Problem: Premature failure of alternator in the field.

Root Cause:Internal diode failure leading to alternator malfunction and reduced service life

Solution: We’ve resolved this issue by upgrading to a more robust diode, specifically designed to better withstand the thermal and vibrational stress commonly found in demanding environments.

An alternator diode is a vital component that acts as a rectifier—converting the alternating current (AC) produced by the alternator into direct current (DC). This conversion is essential for charging the battery and powering the vehicle’s electrical systems. The diode ensures current flows in only one direction, effectively regulating the electrical flow within the system.

These changes are in place for all Reman Alternators beginning with serial number 240000000, built on or after 1/1/2024.
